Deviation Actions
...Was the day one Jalen Xero-J Johnson hit the "Become a Deviant!" button on this site, and well, became a deviant.
In those short 3 years, so many things have changed.
That day, I was set to begin my first year of college the month following, and was forced to learn managing my time here, as well as completing my studies. Now I've graduated, and am already looking for a job.
Since then, I've drawn hundreds and hundreds of pictures of varying quality, medium, and subject, and met a great many people in doing so.
I've watched this site grow and slowly, but surely change to make an artist's life easier (and sometimes harder), and I've watched many Groups form and fall.
My own art, my own stories, and my own characters have undergone changes, revisions, and reboots so often, I tend to forget what they first looked like...
I came into this site with little to no idea how anything worked. Now, not only am I able to converse with people online as easily as I can speak to others in real life, but I've even taught and inspired others to become better artists themselves through my work.
I've gone from keeping to myself in and out of dA to forming genuine friendships with fellow artists and thinkers, even branching my name into several social medias I once wanted nothing to do with....
An entire generation of consoles ended and a new one began in the time I've spent on this site.
...But looking at all the things that have changed, I can say for sure one thing that will never change is this:
My dream of becoming an artist that people will remember.
An artist that people will see as someone who inspires them to rise up and do great things themselves.
Someone who helps others when they're down, and is helped in return.
The kind of artist that anyone, from simple dA accounts, to big names like UDON and Dark Horse end up going to when they want something done.
A Paragon of the art world.
That's what I'll keep working to achieve from now until the day I can no longer lift a pencil.
Xero-J's Requests/Commissions (NOVEMBER UPDATE)
TL;DR
I'm permanently raising my prices for commissions starting next month, restructuring what I sell, and changing the way I handle requests.

--About Future Commissions--
I've been doing some thinking lately about the way I've been running my commissions, and I've come to a realization:
I'm really, REALLY selling myself short to still be charging $10 max for full-color artwork at this point in my life.
Hence, *STARTING IN DECEMBER*, I'm bringing up the prices of my commissions to be more worth my time and effort. Additionally, I'm restructuring my shop based on the tools I now have to work with, which means shutting down some optio
A message.
We live in tumultuous times, and I consider this gallery a simple space where folks don't have to worry about the weight of the world, and just appreciate the artwork. I don't intend for that to change, especially now, in order to provide some comfort to anyone who needs it. But I will say my piece now, because it deserves to be heard here at least once... Black lives matter. Racism is unacceptable. If you have any hope, as I do, that we will soon be able to live in a world where a brother doesn't have to fear for his life every time he walks down the street, you will give what you can to the places where it counts. https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
Special Feature: MUGEN Pocket Clash
A mysterious invitation is sent out across the dimensional airwaves...
"Form a team of three and take on powerful warriors to win the title of Dimensional Champion, and with it, the chance to realize your lifelong dreams!"
And so...adventurers guided by their dreams, fighters in search of a challenge, and heroes looking to defend the world from evil come together to battle for the top! As the teams clash, however, it becomes clear that there's much more to this tournament, and the one behind the invitation, than anyone could have predicted...
Hmm...
So I don't mean to alarm you guys, but I've gotten word that a couple of troublemakers are looking to make a name for themselves and gotten loose around here while I was working on new uploads.
Just...lemme know if you notice anything suspicious, okay?
